BRIGHT SUNSHINE FOR FIRST VETS COMPETITION OF 2016

Who would have believed it but yesterday at Walmley Golf Club the first Vets Tournament of the year was held with wall to wall blue sky and sunshine. Even playing in shirt sleeves was the order of the day!
With 100 players signed up to play in this 4 Ball Better Ball Stableford competition, the really competitive field of players of varying handicaps enjoyed their day out, in what for many would have been their first Tournament of the season. The first time that 90% handicap allowance had been used was highly acceptable for most of the field.
Walmley Golf Club had been closed on the previous Friday and Saturday due to very poor weather conditions and special thanks were given to the Green Keeping staff for getting the course ready and in such good condition at this stage in the season.
Some very good scores were recorded with longest drives seemingly unimaginable for most of the players!
Coming in 1st with a great score of 41 points were Angela DAWSON and Sue NOSWORTHY, both from Copt Heath GC. Angela said she was delighted with her partner Sue as she had been a last minute stand-in and had played so well.

The Lady Captain from Walmley, Nicky BROOKS gave a belated welcome to everyone followed by new Vets President, Jane BETTS thanking all from Walmley who had helped in making the day run so well, in particular Len EVANS and Bob MELEN who acted as starters for the day.
