Mason Masterclass

The first Par 3 Order of Merit event was held over the fantastic 9 hole par 3 course at Marston Lakes yesterday.

The weather was kind, however the overnight rain made playing the course tricky with the greens being soft and balls very easily spinning off the front of the green.

This event fits the focus of our coaching programme perfectly, as all the holes are under 120 yards and with the holes being relatively "normal" with decent sized greens it makes a perfect venue for keeping on top of your wedge play and short game.

Another purpose of these events is to offer opportunities to those players that would like to know more about playing for the County and also give them the chance to play  infront of our Captains, Team Manager and current County players.

Karl Mason, Stratford Oaks, showed everyone how it was done by scoring a 40 points (4 under Gross) round the tricky course. As well as scoring the best in the field Karl also was the only player to go round bogey free!

Karl was closely followed by Gary Greenway (Maxstoke Park) who beat Chris Laird (The Warwickshire) both on 39 points but best back 3 score on count-back.

Many thanks once again to Marston Lakes for allowing us to use their facility, and if your wedge game needs work, I would urge any of you to visit Marston Lakes and put some practice in round this course.

The next event is on Sunday 24th April 2:30pm shotgun start if you are interested and haven't signed up yet please click HERE
