WVLGA Match v WLCGA Junior Girls (Home)
Edgbaston Golf Club
Sunday 24 April 2016 at 1.00 p.m.
13 Warwickshire Vets and 13 Warwickshire Girls assembled in bright sunshine to play their annual match consisting of 1 Singles match, 4 Fourball matches (9/10 handicap) and 2 Greensomes Matches with (1 vet partnering 1 girl). Jane Brennan, the Junior Organiser and the girls looked really smart in their new county uniform bought through the generosity of golf clubs across Warwickshire.
As the first pair teed off the heavens opened so Tom Hefford, the Assistant Professional, who was giving putting tuition to the Juniors had to herd his followers indoors to continue.
The match was played in great spirit and whilst at the half way stage the prospect of a reversal of last year’s result was looking good the Girls played the back 9 more strongly to squeeze an overall win of 3 matches to 2.
The Vets were impressed with the standard of the girls many of them new to the game with great prospects for the future of the County side.
