WVLGA v Warwickshire County Girls Team
Our first match of the season was played against the Warwickshire County Girls at Robin Hood GC on 22nd March. This fixture had been brought forward by almost a month due to the intense training schedule for the youngsters. It was a beautiful day but turned bitterly cold by the end of the afternoon. The low handicap Vets were giving shots in all matches and our pairings were challenged by the obvious potential of the Juniors.
Three matches were incredibly tight and could have, perhaps, gone either way but alas the Vets were only able to secure one win. Perhaps we were not quite out of winter hibernation! The final result went the way of younger legs and more flexible bodies; the Warwickshire Girls winning by 4 matches to 1.
It was great result for them which should kick start their season in a very positive way.
As for the Vets – let’s hope for a better result against the County 2nd team next month.
WVLGA colours were awarded to Chris Machin (Kenilworth) and Jenny Cook (Whitefields).
