It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to play this match at Wellingborough Golf Club. With its undulating fairways and challenging holes, the course required the total attention of the players. A determined Warwickshire team, some of whom were playing with their partners for the first time, stepped up to the challenge and delivered an impressive 5 games to 3 win against a strong Northamptonshire side. The Warwickshire pairs worked very well together with four of the matches being decided on the 18th hole.
The post-match meal was very welcome and enjoyed by both teams. My thanks go to the Northamptonshire Vets Captain, Jane for arranging the match and to my players for making the long journey to Wellingborough and playing so well.
