WVLGA 2 v Staffordshire 2 at Oakridge Golf Club on Thiursday 3rd August 2023
The day started well, a full team, although the reserves had been called in and the weather forecast was promising. I should have known! A phone call on my way to the club from a player whose husband was unwell and subsequently taken to hospital. Andrea Mace the Oakridge Lady Captain very kindly stepped in at the last minute and played. Sue Timberlake also had to retire injured after 12 holes.
The matches were very close, 5 finished on the 18th so the overall result could have gone either way. Unfortunately it went to Staffs 5-3
The match was the final match in the second team (h’cap) league between Warks, Hereford & Worcs and Staffs. Staffs having also beaten Hereford & Worcs won the Morgan Trophy and Jayne Fletcher (2nd team Capt) accepted the trophy on their behalf.
The course was in good condition and the teams enjoyed a delicious meal after play.
Colours were awarded to Sally Garston.
