Warwickshire Golf

We received a very warm welcome from the Derbys Captain, Janet Thomas, and Vice Captain, Mel Prime, as well as the rest of the team.  We were lucky with the weather with lots of sunshine, so everyone was ready for the day's golf. 

Morning session: It was Lilly Phelp's first match for 1st Team playing with Claire Howells. On 7th, they were 3 up and ended up winning the match 1up.  Rachel and Zara were 2 down after 13 holes but fought back hard and finished with a half. The singles were up against players who knew the course and managed to take advantage,  Lisa lost 4 & 2, Emma lost 4 &2 and Liz, who had an injury managed to play and finished with a half. At lunchtime, we were 3 - 2 down.

Afternoon session: Rachel & Emma made a fantastic start and on 9th hole were 3 up, and won their match 4 & 2. Brilliant result.  Claire & Lilly played together again and were 1 up on 9th, finished winning the match 1 up. Great foursome results. The singles could not achieve the same results but fought very hard till the end. Zara lost 2 & 1, Lisa lost 4 & 2.  The match between Imogen and Liz ended up with a half. At tea time, we were 2.5 - 2.5. Really good afternoon result.

Unfortunately, the overall result was a loss to Warks 4.5 - 5.5.

Considering this was our first match for 18 months with 3 months in lockdown, the team did really well and I am sure with more practice coming up, results will be even better. Our next match is at Nuneaton on 22 May.
