Warkwickshire Vets v Leicestershire & Rutland ll played on 6th October at Kenilworth Golf Club
My final game as Vets Captain and with just 3 days to go I only had 13 players. What an amazing group of people the Vets are - following a cry for help I had a full team and even 3 reserves.
The sun shone on us for this final match, and the course played beautifully, bringing out the best in the Warks team. Mel Kefford made her Vets debut, Teresa Wright & Rosemary Cole were first out at 11.00am, winning 6 & 5 - Teresa was left all alone after their early lunch and waited hours for other teams to finish. Lovely that she waited as she was delighted when I presented her with her colours.
My match against the Leics Captain was played in great spirits - and we scraped through 1 up. Kenilworth were fabulous hosts, and the food was delicious.
Warks won the match 5:3, meaning that at the end of the season we played 12, winning 7 and losing 5. This is a brilliant result and it matches our previous best record set in 2013 when our current President Val was the then Captain. How fitting as we have had such a great few years together.
