Warwickshire County Ladies played in the last Open Competition of 2014 at Edgbaston Golf Club on Monday 22nd September, this being a Singles Stableford event. Fantastic weather was once again the order of the day and a strong field set out to play in this important competition. The course was in great condition however the greens were fast and quite difficult to read.
The Competition was played in great spirits with the participants commenting on what a lovely day they had had, regardless of their scores! However, there were some excellent scores recorded. Thanks were given to the Golf Club and all the helpers on the day, with specific thanks given to the Greenkeeper on producing such a fantastic course.
The Joyce Nichol Trophies are different from all others handed out by Warwickshire, in that both Winners have their signatures engraved on to the Trophies, which is quite innovative and Amanda and Penny were both delighted to add theirs for 2014.
PRIZE WINNERS:
Silver Division
Winner: Amanda BURROW (Harborne GC) - 38 points
Runner up: Jayne MURPHY (Coventry Hearsall GC) - 37 points (on count back)
3rd Place: Lynne PEARSON (Shirley GC) - 37 points
Bronze Division
Winner: Penny DAWSON (Shirley GC) - 34 points
Runner up: Ann NASH (Edgbaston GC) - 33 points
3rd Place: Anne LANE (Shirley GC) - 29 points
There were only 4 Gross 2's:
Jane BETTS (Edgbaston GC) on 5th, Julie WARD (Edgbaston GC) and Claire HOWELLS (Moor Hall GC) on 3rd, and Chris MITCHELL (Copt Heath GC) on 7th
