Fantastic weather all day yesterday for the holding of the Warwickshire Inter Club Team Championship, which this year was held at Leamington & County Golf Club. 19 Teams of 5 players competed for both the Chipman Cup (Gross) and The Daisy Hartill Trophy (Net) and as with most Team competition, the nerves were a little frayed at the start, obviously not wanting to let the side down!
The Leamington Course had been prepared very well, however many of the competitors found the greens to be tricky, being very fast and having some intimidating borrows, hence the scoring was, in many instances a little high. Hospitality within the club was excellent and everyone was well fed and watered and it was great to see so many of the Competitors staying on or returning to cheer on the winners for 2013.
Once again the Inter Club Team Champiopnship was kindly sponsored by BDR of Stratford-upon-Avon and the County are indebted to them for sponsoring this event.
The Winning Team for 2013 for the Gross Prize, winning The Chipman Cup were MOOR HALL G C, with Team members of Julia BURTON, Claire HOWELLS, Melissa NICOL, Charlotte PRIDDLE and Sarah WYNN. The winning Gross Score was 422
Taking the Net Prize, the Winning Team were the Host Club of LEAMINGTON & COUNTY G C, winning The Daisy Hartill Trophy. The Team members were: Tracy ATKIN, Tina BRUDER, Martine GILKS, Carolyn TALBOT and Gill THORPE. The winning Net Score was 378.
In her speech prior to the presentation, County Captain, Bobbi Waugh thanked everyone at Leamington & County G C for their help and hospitality on the day, sponsors BDR for their continued sponsorship and then congratulated the winning Teams.
