Under 14 Warwickshire Boys Trials Report
The U14’s playing and coaching squad trials were held at Stonebridge Golf Club on Sunday the 10th of December 2023.
Attendees from the Warwickshire Union of Golf, PGA and supporting squad members consisted of:
Aaron Lansberry (PGA Coach)
Richard Glenn (PGA Coach)
Steve Frearson (Warwickshire Head of Boys Golf)
Dave Bell (Warwickshire U14 Team Manager)
Harry Walton (U14 Boys Captain 2024)
Two sessions were held at 10am and 12.30pm, with 39 keen and well wrapped-up U14’s boys in attendance across both sessions to showcase their talents!
At the beginning of each session myself and Aaron introduced the County and Coaching teams and explained the format of the trials, before the boys were split in to three groups and led to one of three stations where they were presented with long and short game challenges ran by one of the team.
The stations enabled the boys to demonstrate their talents from driving, shot shaping, feel of the club, to various pitching, chipping and putting challenges to demonstrate their ability and feel, all in a fun an enjoyable environment.
A big thanks to everyone who supported on the day and for their improvisation skills when the British winter weather didn’t disappoint with a couple of heavy downpours!
A very well done to everyone that attended. It was great to see the fantastic talent and attitude of our young boys across the County.

For those that weren’t successful or missed the trials, please do see the competition fixtures now publicised on the website and get involved in the Junior Opens across the County. It really is a great way to compete, showcase your talents and meet new friends!
