Warwickshire Seniors took a very much changed side to face Northants in a non league fixture played at Silverstone Golf Club on a very hot day.
There were debuts for Warren Bingham, Roger Parfitt and making a comeback to competitive golf, our very own Pete Clarke.
We started the morning Greensomes session tentatively with three of the first four matches ending in halved matches. A win for Mr President and Shaun Young was followed with two defeats for Warwickshire in the last two matches.
Morning Greensomes Result:
Warwickshire Won 1 match, Halved 3 and Lost 2.
Warwickshire 2.5 points – Northamptonshire 3.5 points.
The afternoon session started very positively with a convincing win in the top match for Dylan Ward and Laurence Greatley 6/4 . Neale and Spencer halved their match, and then the next three matches all went Warwickshire’s way. Bringing up the rear, Clarke and Soen halved, which resulted in Warwickshire not losing any of the afternoon matches.
I believe the stand out feature was once again Team Warwickshires strength in depth and when some of The League Team are unavailable, the team quality is not weakened by drafting some ‘seasoned campaigners’ who know how to get the job done!
Afternoon Fourball Result:
Warwickshire Won 4 matches, Halved 2 and Lost 0. Warwickshire 10 points – Northamptonshire 2 points.
The overall result therefore was a Warwickshire win 12.5 points to 5.5 points.
My thanks to Silverstone Golf Club who provided an interesting golf course with ‘challenging’ greens that asked difficult questions for both teams.

Well done to The Warwickshire Team once again for an outstanding performance which maintains our winning streak in 2022. The real test is our next match which is an away encounter against Worcestershire on Friday 8th July at Worcester Golf and Country Club.
