MAXSTOKE PAIR ARE JANUARY WINNERS

On the first Winter Alliance of 2017, the players were met with very cold and damp conditions at Henley Golf & Country Club, on Saturday 21 January. 21 pairs played in this, the third Alliance of the season with most very well wrapped up to stave off the cold! Could they swing with all these layers on? Well some could, as there were some magnificent scores returned with the format being Greensomes Stableford.
Temporary Greens were in operation from holes 1 to 11 with bunkers on the back 9 being marked as GUR. As the players arrived back in the clubhouse for a well earned hot drink and food, they all said that they had enjoyed being out there.
Winners on the day with a magnificent 42 points were the pair from Maxstoke Park GC, Amanda SPAVEN & Barbara WOOLLEY with runners up from Edgbaston GC, Sally IEVERS & Janet VAKIL who scored 41 points on countback from Gillian HAYWARD & Caroline WALKER from Copt Heath GC.
Henley Lady Captain, Maggie TAYLOR who had been in attendance for most of the day, welcomed all those who had stayed for the presentation and hoped everyone had enjoyed the day. County Captain, Margaret SHEEPY thanked Henley GC for hosting the event and then presented the prizes to the winners and runners-up.

A Ball Sweep was held on the day with £55 being made which will go towards the girls coaching.
