2015 League Runners Up

What a difference a week makes!  Last Monday at the Joyce Nichol in Coventry everyone got absolutely soaked but what a change today, 28th September as the sun shone all day and the permanent blue sky made playing so much more enjoyable. The two finalists for the 2015 Warwickshire Inter-Club League Final were Ladbrook Park Golf Club and Stratford-on-Avon Golf Club with the venue for this year's event being Sutton Coldfield Golf Club.

The final was played in great spirits by both teams of seven players and the games flowed quite well.  By the 10th Tee, Ladbrook Park were up in 4 matches and down in 3.  4 matches were quite tight at this stage with 3 matches showing greater margins.  Those spectating were trying to guess how this was going to finish whilst judging which would be the hole where matches were likely to end.  First result came with a win for Stratford, then quickly one to Ladbrook with Stratford then fighting back to make it 2/1.  However this was soon to change, with the last 4 results going Ladbrook's way, resulting in a win for them 5 games to 2.

At the Prize Presentation, County Captain Karen HEARN thanked the Hon Secretary of Sutton, Sue FOSTER for her welcome and excellent planning for this day.  She also thanked other Sutton Ladies who had helped on the day, together with the Greens Staff who had produced some excellent, though speedy greens.  The rest of the course is so natural that it was a joy to play, as Sutton is so different from most other courses in Warwickshire.

The Runners Up Salver, donated by Beryl Turner, was presented by County President, Jane DENNICK to the Lady Captain from Stratford GC, Meg FORSYTH followed by the Queen's Silver Jubilee Winner's Salver to the League Captain of Ladbrook Park GC, Sue SHORTT.

Sue SHORTT then thanked all of the Warwickshire Committee who had been present today and said how delighted she was to be holding the Salver.  She mentioned that her day had  not quite gone to plan - Sat Nav sending her the wrong way this morning, making her late, 1st Tee shot landing in a bush and then followed by some inspired golf from Paula WINWOOD, who managed 4 birdies in the 14 holes played!!  What a good job her fellow team members got her out of trouble!!!
