The first match of the season for the Warwickshire Vets was played against the Warwickshire County 2nd Team on April 14th at Olton Golf Club. On a bright spring day, but with a chilly wind, both teams appeared to welcome the start of a new season of competitive golf. The teams were very well matched regarding handicaps with few shots given. All matches were closely contested.
The final result was a 4 games to 2 win for the Warwickshire Vets team; three matches were won by the vets, two halved and one match won by the 2nd team. Both teams enjoyed a welcome post-match meal using the opportunity to catch up with golfing friends.
Many thanks to both teams for making this pre-season match so successful.
