In this, the final match of the season it is traditional to play against Warwickshire Senior men and the match this year was held at Coventry Golf Club on Tuesday 1st October.
After negotiating the most beneficial handicaps for the Ladies with the Team Captain of the day John Duncombe, we were offered 3 additional shots!! The format was 4bbb with shots taken from the lowest handicap resulting in all the Ladies all receiving shots.
We all put up a hard fight, but to no avail in most cases - they were just too good for us. However, with great effort, Judy DISBURY and Pat HAWTHORN managed to spare our blushes, halving their match. Thus we lost the match 4 1/2 to 1/2.
A good supper followed, culminating in Vets Captain, Val Barker presenting the Carl Bretherton Trophy once again to John Duncombe. Last time the ladies won this trophy was in 2007, so I think we will have to go into training before next year's encounter!!
