WVLGA v Warks Senior Men played at Robin Hood on Monday 27 September
I was eagerly awaiting the chance to play against the men - always a very competitive but friendly fixture. I struggled to get a full team together and was very grateful for Hazel Carter (Shirley) and Liz Smith (Olton ) who both made their Vets debuts stepping in at the last minute.
The men's Captain Rob and I agreed that the ladies would have 2 extra shots to account for the stroke difference between red and white tees, but unlike previous years the ladies wouldn't start the match 2 up.
The men's team consisted of 6 players with handicaps of 3 or under - the highest was only 11, so we knew it would be tough.The ladies battled hard with 4 matches going to the 17th or 18th hole. But luckily the other matches were comfortably won, and we ended up victorious 3 1/2 : 2 1/2
What fun to beat the men! Well done team.
