WVLGA v Derbyshire at Oakridge Golf Club on Thurs 8th Jul 2021

What an eventful day - I was becoming slightly concerned that one of our players hadn't arrived, when Jayne Hayles came running to tell me that the player had trapped her finger in her trolley whilst assembling it, and that her finger was stuck in the mechanism. The fire brigade were called, plus an ambulance.  However the Pro came to her rescue, with his tool kit, and used a hacksaw to cut the trolley into pieces and release her finger. Amazingly, once it was free, although very swollen and sore - she managed to play the match!!
But be warned - apparently this has happened to other players.

Meanwhile one of the Derbyshire ladies had the time wrong by an hour, and got lost!  So we managed to rearrange the pairs so that she played against our injured player giving her more time to recover!

Oakridge is a very undulating parkland course, with lots of blind shots, and sloping lies, so quite a challenge as most of us didn't know the course.
I decided it was about time to take one for the team and my partner and I lost our match 8 and 7!

Peta Poynton (Robin Hood) played in her first vets match, and Annette Bucknall (Olton) her first scratch match. I awarded belated colours  to Sue Jones (Rugby)

Oakridge provided an absolutely delicious meal with perfectly cooker fresh veg - such a change. It is a family owned and run club, and the owner, Shane,  decided to give our Vets donation for the courtesy of the course to the Ladies Section there , as they have really struggled through Covid.

Despite the difficulties and delays at the start we managed our 4th win of the season 4 1/2 : 3 1/2

Another great result.
