WVLGA match v Staffordshire 2nd Team on Wednesday 23rd August 2017
The venue for this match was Walsall GC. Many games began play in an unexpected rain shower, but the sun soon came out and the views were immediately enhanced. The course looked at its best with lush green fairways and mature trees that were already showing the first signs of autumn. The greens were interesting and challenging! The slopes and borrows took many of us by surprise.
All our matches were close, many only reaching a conclusion at the 18th hole. Two matches were halved. Sadly Warwickshire were unable to clinch a victory in the overall result. This was a crucial match with regard to the Morgan Trio Trophy which is played between Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. Having assessed the total scores between the three counties, it would appear that Worcestershire have won this Trophy with a total of 8 ½ games, with Warwickshire having 8 games and Staffordshire 7 ½ games. So a very close result with all to play for again next year !
